| C.S.S. Pioneer model 1/32 : Special Price: 89.95 plus S&H ( Product # 32-004) | ||
|
Built by Horace L. Hunley in New Orleans near the
beginning of the Civil War for use against the Federal blockade. Her
design was very successful in trials. When the city fell to Union assault,
the sub had to be scuttled in a canal, while Hunley moved to Mobile to
begin work on the submarine H.L. HUNLEY. The PIONEER was later discovered
by the Union and pulled out of the canal. It rotted for about ten years
until sold for scrap. Simple to build, about a dozen pieces, a good way
to get into resin model kit construction. Scale: 1/32nd. Approx. 13" long
overall. # 32-004 Price $ 89.95 Item Name: CSS Pioneer model 1/32

![]() This kit is 19 1/2 " long and features Bluejackets brand metal fittings. It is also designed as a partially cutaway kit (gun towers only). Sunk just outside the entrance to Charleston Harbor during a failed Union attack of the city' defenses, this kit is fairly easy to build, and will make a very unusual addition to the Squadrons of Charleston collection.
